The FAU Office
of Graduate Studies, in cooperation with the Graduate Student
Association,
and the Office of Undergraduate Studies, is pleased to offer a series of
Graduate Teaching Assistant workshops over the next several months. Each
session is designed to provide you with timely and important information
on how to become a better instructor, deal with difficult situations,
manage the various responsibilities in the classroom or laboratory,
prepare and grade exams and homework with fairness and consistency, and
use various technologies to enhance student learning.
The first
workshop is scheduled for October 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in General
Classroom North, Room 101. Three distinguished professors who are known
for their outstanding teaching abilities will be leading the first
workshop “On Becoming a Great Teacher”. Dean Gregory Aloia will lead the
discussion on “Teaching and its Relationship to the Scholarly Role of a
University”, Professor Daniel Raviv will give a presentation on
“Introducing Innovative Hands-on Teaching in the Classroom”, and
Professor Robin Jordan will lead the discussion on how to "Meet your
Students: Learning Preferences and How to Adjust Teaching to Cover all
Learner Types”.
